Actually, today I'm not prepared to reflect on my learning about the last lecture session of MOB. But, I'm writing this today? its because of a small event/incident that unfurled at the tail end of the day. One of my reportee was posting the weekly update in a call with the client, my intuition said to me that the client is not getting the concept that he is trying to explain, if I interrupt him, then I'm sure his flow would be broken so I passed on a message asking him to do a demo, by that means she will get the crux right. She agreed to the demo but due to lack of time, she asked for the demo after an hour or so.
Why would I need to tell all these stories? and what is so fascinating about this story and why I wanted it to reflect on my learning now?
- After an hour and 30 minutes, he posted me saying the client was really happy with what he was doing.
- A call after that message and the outcome of the call.
This guy is a talented guy but he often gets into some kind of loop for various reasons which were actually hindering his growth (in fact I have gone through a lot of questions and I have also asked a lot to myself particularly when it comes to appraisal cycle as I always wanted to make sure I don't show any favoritism to him all because of we both are part of same lunch gang, I was one among the panel who selected him, give him lots of coaching tips..........).
Every time when I speak I get this question within me, "What's making him get into the loops?" here are the answers that would flash all time:
- Too many worries about the future
- Feeling bad about the past decisions
- Trying to solve a problem that has not even hit him yet
But why?
From my perspective, I felt that he was not approaching things in a holistic manner. So how should I help him? I should set something that could change his behavior which will eventually help him realize that no one can induce Out of Box Thinking, it is a process that will evolve as we experience things. Oops all this buzz words I happen to recollect Prof. Viji was sawing the same, infact more than these which I lost as I was trying to connect some dots in the class/session related to
That's when I realized that I should complete my reflection on Systems thinking๐๐๐๐ and I thought I'll capitalize on this incident as much as possible.
What are my key takeaways from the Systems Thinking session:
- Helps us to approach a problem in a holistic way
- A lateral thinking tool
- Will help us to think beyond the ability
- Facilitates Out of the box thinking
- Help us evolve constantly
- Of course It Will help us to identify the purpose
What should I do to improve myself?
Practice, Practice, Practice as much as possible so that I convert a collection into a system that realizes its purpose.
As this is my last reflective journal I wanted to present this moment from Kung Fu Panda movie,
In fact, I was prepared to present this moment as a conclusion note in MOB everywhere (unfortunately, due to lack of flow preparation and time I could not do that) but, I have got a chance to use it in my RLJ conclusion notes. What I'm trying to reflect on at this moment?
Sometimes in our life despite having everything that we wish to have, we don't realize the purpose or the potential. To realize them we need a pinch of salt which can never be secret ingredient. We need to belive in ourself and identify the purpose and acheive the same.
